Altered Playing Cards

Hi Everyone, I have discovered the coolest Altered Playing Card Challenge and I just couldn't help but join in the fun. It is hosted by Claudine at Claudine's Art Corner . I have never altered Playing Cards before and wanted to learn from a good artist so I thought I'd play along with her and many like minded individuals whom I have met on the FaceBook Page Every week you alter 2 cards so that by week 26 the entire pack has been altered! So in week 1, I had to prep all 52 playing cards by coating them with gesso. Here are Claudine's Wk2: And here are mine: I used exactly the same techniques that she did but I used my own supplies so of course they were going to be different and I love that about art! Here are Claudine's week 3 cards: And here are mine: LoL :) I loved how they both turned out. Here I used my Mini Gears dies from Memory Box and metal clock charm as well as a branch and bird die set by Couture Crea...

Glassine Bags

Hi Everyone, I have discovered a new love for wax paper now that I have discovered how to make these gorgeous glassine bags . Sometimes, I make cards that are a little bulky, due to the addition of embellishments ,or are too square for a regular envelope, and although I do have an envelope punch board, I love the opportunity these glassine bags give me to decorate and match the card I want to send within it. Here is a few examples of some bags I made: Glassine Bag #1- She Believed she could so she did This glassine bag is a combination of papers by Kaiser, Lattice Frameworks Die By Sizzix and washi tape. I also used my Martha Stewart Lace Punch to create a pretty lace pattern along the edge of the bag Glassine Bag #2- Alder Tree This design once again, uses various pattern paper from previous Kaiser collections as well as the Alder Tree Die from Memory box and the Arrow die from Technique Tuesday Heart Card Steel die. I also did a little bit of stamping using Me...

XOXO

Hi everyone, I made some cards using KaiserCrafts new XO collection as a guest designer for Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft . I really enjoyed coming up with ways to use both the cut apart pages as well as the Captured Moments 3"x 4" and 4" x 6" cards. Here are a few more cards that didn't make that post that I wanted to share with you. These are available on my HandmadeinOZ Facebook page. Just check out the Cards for Sale album. Card 1- I love you The background uses a combination of pattern papers from XO collection by Kaiser and 3"x4" Captured Moments cards. The butter fly die is from Spellbinders Die D-Lites- Butterfly and the flowers is an old one from my stash. I die-cut 2 hearts and popped them behind this thick fleur embellishment (once again trying to use up what I have). The boy and girl portraits are from the XO Collectables by Kaiser. And to decorate the inside, I used a 4" x 6" from the ...

Fabulous February

Hi everyone, I am part of an art swap community on Swap-Bot and am participating in a few Valentine Day swaps. There is something about receiving mail art that takes me back to childish glee. There is excitement and surprise and lots of thankfulness for being part of something international and soulful. Find me here Here are a few packages I received in February :) Package 1  Package 2 Package 3 Package 4 I love them all for how different they are to my taste and how they introduce me to new products and techniques that I might not know I like until I have them in my hand. I am truly blessed to have these ladies in my life. Thank you so much for stopping by. xx Amira

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - February

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 - February Happy Belated Valentine's Day everyone.  I have always watched on as the art  community   participated  in the annual tag  challenge  hosted by  Tim  Holtz. This year, I am joining (thanks to my swapping buddy Sarah who created a swap in our Aussie Group ). This February 2015 Tim Holtz Tag  was very enjoyable and I  couldn't  help myself from just wanting to add "ONE MORE THING"....lol.. Here is Tim's Tag: And here are mine: Tag 1- 3 Flower Tag Tag 2- Single Flower Tag They started off fairly similar however, as I started embellishing they began to take on a personality of their own. Here are some close-ups of some of the elements.  Now, my problem is which one do I keep and which one do I swap ;) ?? Thank you for stopping by. xx Amira
