1 , 2 , 3 Art Journal Page

Hello everyone, I am participating in an art journal page swap where I have specific prompts to follow so I thought I would turn on the camera and film the process while I created this layout.  I started off by grabbing my Draw and Wash Paper Pad by Art Spectrum and my Ken Oliver Colour Bursts and these will be my starting tools. Step #1: To make the background, I used my Colour Bursts in: - Cerulean Blue - Alizarin Crimson - Violet I did mist the page with a fine mister both before and after applying the CBs. I added more colour with my Distress Crayons. I also added gesso through a punchinella stencil for more texture. Step #2 Add collage elements. Here I added tissue paper ... ..and book pages.  Step #3 I used Tim Holtz Paper Dolls as my elements to apply 1, 2 and 3 of people. I decided on this layout I the end. I felt it told a better story. Step #4 To add the sentime

Wax Resist Background ATCs

Hi everyone, Catching up on my June ATCs for my Aussie East-West Swappers Groups Today the technique is: Wax Resist Background and requires a wax roll which can be found alongside  parchment and baking paper in the kitchen aisle of your grocery store. In addition to the wax roll, I also decided to use my embossing folders to add pattern to the wax roll. These I sent through my Sizzix Big Shot to create a lovely pattern ... Which can be ironed on sandwiched in between 2 pieces of paper (wax side down). Next, I used my Distress Inks to add color and then used tissue paper to rub away any excess ink which is resisted by the wax pattern. The colors I used are: - Fossilised Amber - Victorian Velvet - Abandoned Coral - Tumbled Glass Set #1 For my Fossilised Amber backgrounds, I created a bee theme and used a hexagon Alterations die.   Set #2 For my Victorian Velvet backgrounds, I created a tea theme using doilies

Gorjuss 'Mini' Art Journal 2018 ~ June ~ A friend is the nicest thing

Hi Everyone, I am back with the June layout for my 'Mini' Art Journal 2018. I will be working in my DIY watercolor art journal. I have a tutorial for you if you want to make one yourself. Check it out  HERE   For this layout I went with Stamp No.39 'The Lost Heart' Gorjuss Mini stamp by Santoro.   I was inspired by her teddy bear! Also, the fact that she was all sad and dark made me think that she needed a burst of sunshine in her life so I reached for this Geo Quarters sunburst stencil by Kaisercraft. I also reached for the yellow from my Distress Crayons and some Americana Acrylic Paint in the color dolphin (aka grey). After the background was finished, I used my Stampaholic to stamp out the Gorjuss girl and a whole stack of teddy bears from Kaisercraft's 'Teddy Bear Picnic' stamp set. I used my Koi Sakura water color palette to do some relaxing colouring. I gave her a red over-coat so that sh

Art Journal Swap ~ The Story Teller~ Collaboration with Suzanne Johnston

Hi everyone, Im back with another art journal layout for my collaboration with my fellow design team member  Suzanne Johnston . Earlier in the year, Suzanne and I swapped an envelope full of die-cuts and prompts and today I picked one of these prompts to make an art layout. The art journal that I am working in is one I made myself and if you are interesting in making one, please check out my DIY tutorial  HERE . From the prompts, I selected this dress which has a very meaningful sentiment. "Elegance is not standing out, but being remembered". I teamed it with a stamp from my collection called Lady Jude by Kaisercraft. For the background, I chose the color Antique Linen from Set 3 of the Distress Crayon Range by Ranger. I then added texture paste through 2 stencils: - Mosaic by Tim Holtz / Ranger - 03 Mixed Media text by Cadence Next I removed some of the texture paste text and stamped this rose and coloured i
