Aussie Youtube Hop April 2018 ~ Blessed Fall ~ Art Journal Layout

Hi everyone, I am so privileged to be participating in the Aussie Youtube Hop this April (2018).  Our sponsor this Hop is Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft and the prize this Hop is the amazing All the Leaves are Brown April Kit!!!  For an in-depth look at what is in the kit, check out my box opening  HERE For this Hop, I wanted to make an art journal layout all about Autumn / Fall. I grabbed my Jane Davenport Acrylic DIY Face Stamp and had some fun making my own faces until I decided on the perfect one for 'this layout'. Here are a few other faces I made (coming in another project soon!). Next, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaf Die (from the April Kit) to cut out some leaves using Autumn coloured card stock. I also used the Lindy's spray (also in the Kit) to color in some patterned paper that I'd die-cut leaves out of. I played around with the arrangement of the leaves as a border in Dylusions A5 Creative Journal.

A Wizard's Mixed Media Journal ~ Part 4 ~ Gryffindor's Journal

Hi everyone, I'm back for part 3 of my Wizard Journal Series. If you missed it, check out Part 1  HERE If you missed Part 2, check it out  HERE Part 3 can be found HERE Today's journal is (my house) Gryffindor inspired! Gryffindor's colors are: ~ Primary Red & Wilted Violet to make maroon ~ Burnt Umber ~ Red Oxide ~ Deep Yellow ~ Black I mixed primary red and wilted violet to make the characteristic maroon color of Gryffindor. Next, I used hot glue to create the 4 corners on each of the front and back covers. I also added hot glue on the spine (love this!). Next, I used a stencil and structure paste to create a design for the front cover (I do regret covering that eye but there was no other place for the label!). Next I layered black and gold on the hot glue elements and added the yellow to the raised stencil designs. I once again added thick Venetian Gold along the edges and 'cooked' them for a textured gilded look. For t

A Wizard's Mixed Media Journal ~ Part 3 ~ Ravenclaw's Journal

Hi everyone, I'm back for part 3 of my Wizard Journal Series. If you missed it, check out Part 1  HERE If you missed Part 2, check it out HERE Today's journal is Ravenclaw inspired! Ravenclaw's colors are: - Deep blue - Light grey - Yellow Ochre - Metallic Silver - Black After gesso'ing the front and back of the journal, I painted the covers deep blue. After drying, I added a thick coat of Jo Sonya's crackle medium and allowed that to air dry. Next, I added a coat of yellow ochre with a dry brush in a haphazard formation. I did achieve a little 'crackle effect' but not as significant as I would have liked. But when compared to the inside of the covers (no crackle medium applied), you could really see and feel the difference. When all was dry, I rummaged through my cutting dies and decided on a frame and 2 sized of feathers. I die-cut them out of card board and double layered them for a raised effect. The f

A Wizard's Mixed Media Journal ~ Part 2 ~ HufflePuff's Journal

Hi everyone, I'm back for part 2 of my Wizard Journal Series. If you missed it, check out Part 1 HERE Today's journal is Hufflepuff inspired! Hufflepuff colors are really a beautiful combination - Deep Yellow - Yellow Ochre - Light Grey -Dark Grey - Black For this journal, I used yarn as a design element. The spine is my favourite - I love how it turned out although it did give me some grief. I had applied strips of yarn along the spine but when it had dried I wished I had cut them long enough to wrap around to the front and back just a tad.  So I extended these with hot glue but that was a disaster as they came right off. I then added glossy accents to hold down the non-functional glue extensions and then painted the glossy accent dimensional domes gold. I also love the gold 'gilding' effect around the edges. Check out my process video HERE . Thanks for looking. xxAmira
