The BiG Aussie Craft Challenge ~ TN Memory Keeping ~ Happy Australia Day 2018

Hi everyone,

Happy Australia Day!

My family and I went hiking last weekend and I snapped THIS gorgeous photo which is just perfect for the BiG Aussie Challenge over at Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft this Australia Day Weekend.

Two perfect items that are a MUST for this layout come straight out of the Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft January 2018 Kit.

This Tim Holtz stencil really did do justice to my plain mustard yellow pattern paper with its exploration and traveler themed words- it is, funny enough, titled Traveler.

The other beautiful is this Kaisercraft 'Open Road' stamp set!

Featuring many native flora that I just have to feature really quickly here:

Golden Wattle- Acacia pycnantha

Summer Beauty- Corymbia ficifolia

King Protea- Protea cynaroides
I also played around with stamping them out in Jet Black archival ink and Ranger Cool Graphite ink.

The black makes it stand out while the grey gives it a painterly blended in look.

Here is my photo once I picked the papers I wanted to layer it up with

I then stamped the wattle leaves and coloured them in with water colors.

I attached a small sentiment to a tab and fixed it on with a tiny staple

I also stamped 'Summer Beauty' but ended up receding it into the background as I layered more earthy toned papers and a #happy sentiment.

Here is the left side of the layout.

For the right hand side, I stamped the wattle leaves once more but this time with Jet archival ink and on white card stock, then fussy cut them out and layered them on top of my stencilled background.

Next, I die-cut letters to spell out 'Happy Australia Day' with patterned paper that represented the arrivals/departures announcement board at the airport.

This is from a 6" x 6" paper pad by Kaisercraft called #Me.

Finally, I stamped the Protea out on card stock twice and coloured it in with watercolors.
I fussy cut it out and arranged it layered underneath the title of the layout.

I also created another little layered cluster of paper/sentiment beneath it.

This is how the right side of my layout looks.

And here is my full layout.

I absolutely LOVE how it captures my Australia.
