Critters Down Under ~ Garden Art ~ Lawn Fawn Embellishments

Hey everyone, I am totally inspired by the November Kit from Aunty Vera Scrap and Craft. The first thing I thought of was making little embellishments for my little succulent pots using this cute stamp by Lawn Fawn. It is called Critters Down Under and you can find it  HERE So I stamped them out (using Lawn Fawn black Ink) and coloured them in (using Koi Sakura water colors ) and fussy cut them out (with my cutter bee scissors). After they were fussy cut, I also added al ayer of Dimensional Magic (Mod Podge brand). I used the sign from this  Bear & Sign Cottage Cutz die  from my stash from an earlier kit and attached a tooth pick using hot glue. I also used the stamp from this  Open Road stamp set  from my stash from an earlier kit To create these cute tooth pick embellishments which I then put into each of my succulent pots. These make great gifts to ...

DIY Australian Pocket Travelers' Notebook ~ Part 6 ~ Decorating Inserts with a magpie's collection

Hi Everyone, I am a bit of a magpie on my morning walks- I tend to pic up things that catch my eye. On any given day, this can range from feathers to flowers to leaves.   have been known to come back with pieces of furniture too LOL- you know what they say- one person's track is another person's treasure.  I wonder what that says about hoarders- they always see the beauty in everything and thus nothing is ever trash? I picked up a few items this morning that I thought would be lovely to incorporate into my Aussie pocket TN. I have feathers, leaves ... Flowers.... These I dried by zapping momentarily in the microwave. I show you the result of the zapped flowers from this morning's collection compared to flowers I had picked up earlier in the week and are just left on my desk waiting to be pressed. I am working on a flower drying experiment which I hope to share with you so please stay tuned for that. I am also reaching for my ...

DIY Australian Pocket Traveler's Notebook ~ Part 4 ~ TN Elastics & Closure

Hey everyone, Welcome back. We are now ready to add elastics to our pocket TN. The trademark of the TN is that you can add and remove inserts easily by threading them through these elastics. There are a few ways of adding holes to the covers to thread the elastics. I have chosen to place the holes on top of one another instead of side by side. The tool I am using to make the holes is my Crop-o-dile and I am using the smallest hole punch setting. The first hole I make is 3/8" from the top along the centre of cover. The second hole gos directly below it at 7/8" from the top edge. I also created hole in the centre (for the closure) using my Tim Holtz pick and I create the same 2 holes from the bottom of the cover. To measure how much elastic you need, multiply the height of the cover (6" ) x 4. So in this instance, we need 24" of elastic. I am using hat elastic which is 2mm thick. To see how I thread this, please watch the tu...
