Wild Love Mixed Media Valentine Cards

Hi everyone, As soon as I saw the cute critters in Photoplay's  'Wild Love ' paper collection, I knew that I had to make cards that featured them. I really wanted to make mixed media cards using the extras I picked up along with the core products (see my unboxing). So I grabbed these and my Ranger  Distress Oxides  as well as the  journaling cards     and the  sticker sheet   as main elements. One more element that I used to make the card front was this  Letter It card stock  from Ranger. I am delighted that it held up to mixed media and stamping use! Mixed Media Technique 1 - Stencilling and Distress Oxide For this card, I used the Kaisercraft stencil and 4 colors of Distress Oxide on the card stock (which I trimmed to 4" wide) : - Iced Spruce, - Salty Ocean, - Picked Raspberry, - Peacock Feathers, I then fussy cut the journaling card with the cute bear and attached that to the ...

Mixed Media Art Journal Cover ~ Today Yes You Can

Hi Everyone, I have finished one of my watercolor journals from last year and I just needed to go finish it off by working on the cover so that's what I'm sharing with you today.  I love the combination of yellow (fossilised amber and wild honey) with the peacock feathers Distress Oxides in the mixed media background. The stamp I used was Kaisercraft's 'Scrap Studio'. A paper doll (Tim Holtz) as the focal element plus a few pieces of ephemera from Echo Park's 'Just be You' die cuts which give this piece it's title. I also decided to do a little cluster of lace and ribbon overplayed with a butterfly in the bottom right corner which turned out so lovely in combination with her dress and the sentiment. Here is the front cover : And the back cover: It came together very quickly and Im so happy to be packaging this little journal off and sending it to it's new owner - shhhh it's surpris...

Halloween Play Challenge #4- Feather and Ravens

Welcome back to Day #4 of the #HalloweenPlayChallenge. Today I am playing with this magnificent Feather & Ravens die!!! We have crows here in Australia which made me wonder what the difference between a raven and crow is. I did go off and have a look. If you are interested, see  HERE Back to my card :) I assembled my die-cut elements on a water color card front and it sparked such a wonderful scene in my mind that I knew straight away the scene I wanted to create. I used my Distress Oxides to create a beautiful night sky of greys and blues (Faded Jeans and Iced Sprice). Once again the crescent moon and the bats feature here. I love the start black of the die-cut raven against the blue-grey of the sky. Love the splashes of grey on the background making it look like more bats in the distance. And I love the romantic sentiment here "Seek the silence of the night bu moonlight"-  Just perfect for this scene. I enjoyed...

Halloween Play Challenge #1- Haunted House

Hello Readers, I'm hosting a challenge over at Aunty Vera Scrap & Craft which uses this amazing Haunted House die. I had SO much fun with this!! So here is the first card I made  And because I had so much fun, here is a second one ... alike yet different... The card on the left was made using Distress Oxides while the card on the left was made using Distress Inks. The process video for these cards can be found  HERE .
