Flower Jars for Artist Trading Cards ~ September ATC Swap

Hi everyone, I have a quick share for my 4th and final September Kit project using this wonderful  Stampendous cling rubber stamp - Flower Jars. I needed to make some ATC's for my monthly ATC group swap and these flowers are just the right size for a 2.5" x 3.5" artist trading card. I went ahead and stamped these images using Archiva, Black ink onto water color paper. I then used my Sakura watercolors to color them in one night while we were watching Australian Survivor (are you watching that??). I then broke out my Pixscan mat (LOVE THIS BABY) and asked it to pretty please fussy cut them for me .... and voila!!! Check it out !!  I am so happy to be at this stage of using my Cameo for crafting :) Next it was time to make a background for my ATCs. I used an A4 piece of mixed media paper and I created a frenzy.  I didn't take a picture at this stage but I have a picture of it at this stage when I had cut the...

Art Journal Swap - Not every house is a home

Hi everyone, So happy to be bringing you the first layout in my new collaboration with my fellow design team member Suzanne Johnston . Suzanne and I are doing a collaboration this year where we are working in an art journal for as long as it takes to fill it and then sending each other the finished journal at the end. We are sending each other an envelope full of die-cuts and inspirational items as prompts for layouts. The art journal that I am working in is one I made myself and if you are interesting in making one, please check out my DIY tutorial HERE . From the prompts, I selected the clippings of musical paper which I reconfigured as houses. From there, I went onto Design Seeds and picked out this color palette. I then gathered all my acrylic paints and supplies ... and started mixing. I think I got pretty close to the correct colors :) Next it was time to decide on the colors for the background and this is what I w...

12 Tags of 2015 – March

Hi Everyone, Its March and yes, I am here to show you my March Tag inspired by Tim Holtz. For those of you not familiar with this challenge, please take the tour over on the website here . Here is Tim's tag for March: This tag was a simple one to make in the end despite all the elements. First, create a mixed media background then clear emboss a stamp (stamped with black ink). Then, use texture paste and emboss with gold embossing powder and finally add your embellishments. Here is mine: I still went with the butterfly theme but totally made it my own. I added the #3 to signify March. And a wooden butterfly embellishment to match the stamp. You can't see it very clearly here, but you can faintly see washi tape peering here and there from under the paint background...so lovely. The big butterfly was an old brooch given to me so I cut off the pin and added it here. I also added some buttons to match. I also added a pink ribbon an...
